The performers are already rehearsing for the stadium show, which promises to be spectacular and impressive once again this year, tickets are selling out and the construction of the monumental stage in Nagyerdei Stadium is to begin next week. The general properties and the resistance of so-called aerogel materials, which are increasingly used in the construction, automotive, aerospace and oil industries, have been tested at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen. The consequent findings of our researchers may contribute to further growth in the application of aerogels.
From to, to the application of AI, digital twins, and integrated modeling to climate and air quality protection, the Participants of a two-day CITDS Information Technology and Data Science Conference, hosted by the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen were able to get familiar with numerous IT innovations, including the challenges of autonomous driving, new paradigms of artificial intelligence and the application of AI, digital twins, and integrated modeling of climate and air quality protection. Once again, the central element of the event was the interaction of artificial intelligence and various technologies.

At the AIDA AICET 2026 event, experts summarized, among other topics, the impact of machine learning, large language models, and agent-based systems on science.
Researchers at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen have investigated a physico-chemical treatment method for so-called bathroom greywater (BGW). This is water that has already been used once in the bathroom (gently) but can be reused for certain non-potable purposes after treatment. The findings were published in the journal Results in Engineering. This article has also been honored with a Count István Tisza Foundation for the University of Debrecen and the University of Debrecen Publication Award.
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), ranked 7th in the QS World University Rankings for Education and Training, hosted an international conference between July 28 and 31 with the participation of researchers from more than twenty different countries. The Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen was also represented at the event, where its delegates presented current research activities conducted at our university and discussed further opportunities for collaboration.
The international English-language linguistics summer course OVA 2026 (Omnes Voces Acceptamus 2026) was held for the first time in Debrecen between July 27 and August 7 by the Department of English Linguistics at the Institute of English and American Studies of the Faculty of Humanities (BTK). All in all, there were approximately 100 participants coming to our city from more than 20 different countries for this event in order to expand their knowledge of linguistics with the help of a distinguished international faculty of instructors.
The list of objectives with which Attila Jenei began his work as Vice Rector for International Affairs include the following items, among other things: the improvement of the international visibility of the university, the expansion of academic, strategic and industrial partnerships, the increase of the practical benefits of international relations, advancing in higher education rankings, strengthening student and researcher mobility, and developing a long-term and sustainable international brand-building and communication strategy for the institution.
