The latest group of international students arriving for the spring semester at the University of Debrecen have been recently treated to a Welcome Dinner, consisting of a traditional Hungarian meal and a folk dance party. This year, the largest number of the students have come from France and Turkey. In addition to Hungarian gastronomy and folklore, these students participating in the international mobility programs also got to know their peer-partners, who will facilitate their integration into our university. Our students majoring in mechanical engineering at the University of Debrecen can now acquire the most up-to-date knowledge in the new Krones Hungary Géptervező Laboratórium [Krones Hungary Machine Design Laboratory], which has been established as a result of the cooperation between the Faculty of Engineering and the company Krones Hungary Kft. The production of several new herbal preparations is in the pipeline due to the cooperation between the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen and the Tashkent Institute of Pharmacy, which has been developed in recent years. The Ningbo City Agricultural and Rural Development Office is launching an agricultural partnership with the University of Debrecen. A delegation from the major Chinese port and commercial centre plans to launch educational and scientific links, details of which were set out in a cooperation agreement during a visit to the university.
The University of Debrecen has signed a research, innovation and technology cooperation agreement with China's leading higher education institution, Tsinghua University. The partnership between the two institutions covers the fields of medicine, therapeutic procedures, drug and food development, and artificial intelligence-based research and development, among others. A community space was opened at the University of Debrecen to showcase the cultural heritage of Central Asian countries, to learn about their traditions and to introduce their languages. The Türk Sarok offers a special meeting point for students from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and for those interested in the region.
The University of Debrecen has improved its position in the QS sustainability ranking. UD has moved up from 372nd to the 313th place among the institutions examined by the renowned UK ranking agency Quacquarelli Symonds, thus becoming the best Hungarian university in this respect.
